Caring for the environment and using natural resources responsibly are among the core principles that guide VENDEN. We are constantly looking for new ways to reduce our environmental impact and make our production processes more sustainable. One of our key priorities is reducing plastic consumption, which can be achieved not only by introducing new technologies but also by improving existing processes and packaging solutions.
Over the years, we have introduced several initiatives to make more efficient use of available resources. These include switching to lighter PET bottle preforms and caps, reducing the amount of raw material needed to produce each bottle. We have also improved the design of our 0.5- and 1.5-litre PET bottles by shortening their necks. These seemingly small changes allow us to save up to 39 tonnes of plastic every year.
As part of our continued commitment to the principles outlined in the VENDEN Green Declaration, we stopped using protective plastic film on the caps of VENDEN's 11- and 18.9-litre water bottles in October 2026. This decision followed a review of opportunities to reduce additional packaging materials while maintaining the same high standards of product quality and safety. The single-use caps themselves provide a secure seal, while the labels attached to them allow customers to verify that the bottles have not previously been opened. As the additional protective film does not come into contact with the water and is not required to maintain the seal, removing it has no effect on the product's quality or composition.
Although the protective film used on each bottle weighs relatively little, the savings become significant when considering our total production volume. By eliminating this additional packaging, we will reduce plastic consumption by more than 7 tonnes annually. This change also brings important benefits in terms of waste management. Once emptied, our large water bottles are returned to our production cycle, reused and eventually sent for recycling at the end of their service life. The protective film, on the other hand, is a single-use packaging element that does not return to this system after removal. Eliminating it therefore not only helps conserve resources but also prevents additional plastic waste from being generated. We believe that a more sustainable future is built on thoughtful decisions and shared efforts.
Thank you for being part of this journey!
